ENROLLMENT - Parent Point Requirement

All Palcare families are required to participate in center activities that improve the quality of care and education at Palcare. The Parent Participation Program is designed to offer parents many options for becoming involved. Since instituting this program, we have seen remarkable growth in parent participation.

The requirement is 24 hours (aka 24 Parent Points) per two-parent family or 12 hours (aka 12 Parent Points) per single-parent family each fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). There are many ways to fulfill this obligation: Attending Board Meetings, Parent/Staff Meetings, PAC meetings, volunteering in the classroom, volunteering at Palcare family activities, helping on fundraisers and making/purchasing items for classrooms from teachers’ “wish lists.” Monetarily, Parent Points are valued at $15 each. Many employers will match employee contributions or volunteer hours and these employer matches can add to your total points earned. Check with your employer’s HR Department.

Hours will be pro-rated for families who begin later in the fiscal year. Quarterly status balances are sent to families.  Points not earned will be billed at a rate of $15 per point at the end of the fiscal year.

Parent points can be earned all at once or throughout the year.

It is each family’s responsibility to fill out a Parent Points form for each activity completed.
