The Palcare program looks like no other child care and education program available. One of the underlying concepts that makes us stand out is that of flexible scheduling. Because classes are open Monday – Friday from 6:00 am – 11:00 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, a wide variety of work schedules can be accommodated.
For parents employed by our partner, San Francisco International Airport (SFO), we allow creation of child care schedules which are entirely determined by their work schedules. Because of this flexible work scheduling for parents, we also require flexible work schedules with our staff. Together we work toward the goal of providing caring, high quality care and education in an environment that supports the growth and development of children, their families, and the caregiving professionals that work with them.
Palcare is a developmentally based child care and educational program. The program philosophy is based on the theoretical works of Jean Piaget and Erik Erikson, and the ensuing work of developmental psychologists and educators. A very strong emphasis is placed on the development of a love for learning, the beginnings of autonomy, and moral growth.
Palcare provides child care to the following age groups:
- Infant (3 to 24 months)
- Toddler (24 to 36 months)
- Preschool (3 to 4.5 years)
- Pre-Kindergarten (4 years to Kindergarten eligible)
